Wow!

On Friday, January 26th Coaching Corps hosted the 4th Annual Game Changer Awards, at the Fairmont San Francisco. The Game Changer Awards, which are presented in partnership with NBC Sports Bay Area and Levi’s, celebrate the power coaches and mentors can have on a child’s life by turning sports experiences into lessons that last a lifetime.

This year’s speakers from the Bay Area professional sports team’s included Jeff Samardzija of the San Francisco Giants, Matt Chapman of the Oakland Athletics, Bruce Irvin of the Oakland Raiders, DeForest Buckner of the San Francisco 49ers, Jarron Collins of the Golden State Warriors, and Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes. Each athlete honored a coach who impacted him on and off the field. These coaches pushed their players to succeed in sports, and gave them lessons to help them succeed in life.

Coaching Corps was also proud to honor the volunteer coaches who are making an impact in their communities every day. Coach Miguel Morris from Baltimore, Anthony Sanchez from Los Angeles exemplify what coaching means, and demonstrate the very best of what Coaching Corps offers to communities that need coaches and mentors.

The highlight of the night was honoring the Coach of the Year Award to Serena Limas from the Boys and Girls Club of Ramona Gardens. Serena gave an inspiring speech about the ways coaching can offer hope. She offers hope every day to the kids she coaches, and encourages them to give 100% effort to everything they do, from sports, to school, to their personal lives. You can watch Serena accept her Coach of the Year Award from one of her athletes, April Aguilara by clicking here.
